In order to prevent criminal activity related to unlawful transfer of bank accounts, Japanese banks may suspend your Japanese bank account after your current period of stay is expired even if your application for Extension of Period of Stay is in progress.
If your bank account is suspended, you won’t be able to withdraw money, transfer funds, make any payments using the account (in most cases, the account may still receives incoming payments).
We recommend that you contact your bank once after the application for Extension of Period of Stay before the expiry date of your current visa, and notify that you have done the application and the screening is still in progress.
